The Tale of This Treasure
The party pushed through tight tunnels and vaulted caverns rimed with old silk and the husks of ancestors. Thirty-three thri-kreen warriors swarmed from alcoves, their carapaces flashing, before the Monarch itself descended from a vaulted egg chamber. After a brutal engagement around a cavern altar carved with looping sigils, the Monarch collapsed, its carapace split by the party's coordinated strikes. From the bodies and the sumptuous, fungus-warmed larder that surrounded their nest you recover practical supplies the hunters worked with plus several valuable pieces probably reserved for the Monarch's attendants. The haul contains useful crafting materials and gems for selling, several reliable magical items appropriate to a level-ten reward, restorative consumables, and a battered but potent fragment of the Monarch's carapace that can be turned into special armor or used as a ritual component.
