The Tale of This Treasure

The oni held the low ridge like a dark king, picking over the broken ranks of a raiding company and wearing their trophies as it prowled the battlefield. When the creature finally fell, its lair among toppled pikes and torn banners revealed a crooked collection of stolen goods: coin and gemstones filched from soldiers, a lacquered naginata stained with old blood, a cloak the creature used to change faces, and a few mundane camp stores it considered too worthless to carry off. The party gathers what remains — a mixture of practical spoils, battlefield trophies that could win favor with local commanders, and a couple of items that smell faintly of dangerous magic.
