The Tale of This Treasure
The Battle Master Champion fell at the head of his men, and what remains of his regalia and retinue yields both practical gear and small treasures. The party pulls a dented chain shirt from beneath a shattered shield, finds a serviceable longsword and a bronze signet ring that identifies the fallen as a mid-ranking officer. Scattered among bodies and gear are low-value polished gems and a single restorative potion suitable for immediate use. Cloth and leather scraps, along with a battered banner fragment, offer crafting materials or trophies for a town judge or an ally who knows the unit's sigil. The champion's personal tactics ledger is the most intriguing prize for parties who can read it or sell it to a military scholar. Altogether the haul is modest but meaningful for a level 2 party, providing gear, a healing resource, and narrative hooks for pursuit or interrogation.
