The Tale of This Treasure

High in a shattered obsidian spire, the ancient Emberheart — a wyrm of volcanic fury and cunning — kept a hoard grown over centuries. When the wyrm fell, its lair did not disgorge only coins and glittering trinkets; it disgorged relics of cults and empires that revered (and feared) dragons, remnants of arcane experiments on drakes, and the dragon's own trophies: polished scales, crystallized blood, and a single, beatific heartstone. The party sifts through layered treasure beds: coin piled in collapsed chests, expertly wrapped gemstones, a sealed iron casket containing scrolls and rituals, and weapons and artifacts scorched in the wyrm's breath but still sizzling with latent fire. Some pieces are plainly tradeable; others are culturally and magically significant, valued by collectors, mages, or dragon cultists — and a few are effectively priceless to any who understand them.
