Dusty Trunk at the Wayside Inn

Passing through a blustery crossroads, the party is invited into the back room of a shuttered wayside inn where an old trunk — its lock brittle from age — sits forgotten. Inside are the accumulated odds and ends of a traveling merchant and a retired courier: small coins, a few useful adventuring supplies, two modest treasures one could realistically expect a level 2 party to scrounge, and a single common magical aid likely bought from a down-on-his-luck apothecary. Nothing legendary, but enough to pay for a stay, some supplies, and perhaps a new pair of boots.
