The road beyond the ford runs red with mud and scorch where the skirmish lines intersected. Goblin skirmishers fell back into brush, hobgoblins held a shattered banner by the stream, two crocodons that had lurked in the shallows were slain as they snapped at retreating brigands, and a band of highwaymen and their two leaders lay scattered across the trade route. Ransacked pouches, snapped arrows, and trampled banners litter the field. The party gathers weapons suitable for repair, a handful of semiprecious gems and coin for immediate expenses, a potion and one uncommon cloak recovered from an officer, and clues in a bandit journal that point to a hidden cache. Most items are mundane and suitable for sale or salvage. The cloak provides the single significant magical boon from the engagement, while alchemist's fire and crafting hides give options for immediate tactical use or future crafting.
