Shards of the Crystal Minotaur

When the party finally toppled the towering minotaur skeleton of living crystal, the creature collapsed in a shower of glittering shards. Clear and amethyst-blue pieces rang like glass as they fell into the dust. Inside the ribcage the party found a dense, pulsing core around which the magic had once congealed, several sizable gemstones embedded in crystalline sockets, and a battered pouch that held coins and a silver bull statuette likely looted from earlier victims. A master smith or artificer could graft the crystalline head onto a haft and fashion a functioning greataxe that retains a faint magical edge. The fragments will serve well as arcane components, while the core holds the concentrated spark of the creature's animating magic and could be consumed in the creation of a single uncommon magic item.
