Temple Vault Ambush — Kobolds, Acolytes, and One Ambush Dragon

After breaking through the temple annex where a small cult of acolytes had been colluding with local kobold tribes to ambush pilgrims, the party found the remnants of the skirmish. The kobolds used crude traps and sling ammunition while the acolytes kept a modest collection of offerings and spell components. The ambush dragon, a solitary opportunist that attacked from a ruined rafters perch, was driven off or slain in the chaos; only a charred fragment of its hide remained as proof. Among the wreckage the party gathers usable gear and valuables: a small coin hoard and trade goods, one salvaged healing potion, a holy symbol and component pouch from the acolytes, basic weapons and leather protection taken from the kobolds, a modest gemstone, and a curious iridescent scale fragment worth seeking out for crafters. The haul is appropriate for a level 1 party: enough to buy basic supplies, repair gear, and perhaps pay for a single session of training or a modest room while the group decides what to do next.
