The Tale of This Treasure
The party pried open the scorched vault beneath the dragon's sleeping ledge. Heat still rose from cracked urns and molten coin stacks. Much of the dragon's hoard was intact — a riot of warped gold, crown-like tiaras studded with rubies, and nuggets of glass that were once flawless gems. Some items bear the dragon's soot and claw marks; a few were fused together by prolonged exposure to magical and draconic flame. The party salvaged what they could carry: portable wealth, a handful of magical trinkets and utility items suitable for a low- to mid-level band who dared to plunder an ancient red's lair. While this is only a fraction of what a true ancient red might hoard, it is more than enough to change lives — and likely to draw attention.
