The Tale of This Treasure
Beneath collapsed arches and dust-choked shelves the party finds the slow, patient remains of a study once devoted to recording a lost city. Broken tablets, a rusted cart, and overturned ink pots litter a small chamber. Among the debris lie practical items pocketed by those who fled long ago: a functional healer's kit, an apprentice's alchemical set, and a useful potion preserved in a sealed phial. Scattered coins and a few modest gemstones sit inside a cracked reliquary, while a tarnished silver ewer and an engraved map fragment hint at patrons and buyers who once funded scholarship here. Tucked in the crook of a ruined lectern is a peculiar carved relic that seems keyed to memory; it hums faintly when your party recalls the ruins' name. The haul is modest but meaningful: enough gold and useful tools for a level 2 party to pay for supplies, a night's lodgings, and perhaps a small commission to continue exploring deeper into the ancient vaults.
