The Tale of This Treasure
Under a cold, pinched moon the party cleared the eastern wing of the old churchyard. Three ghouls slunk from a columbarium and two sluggish zombies rose from shallow graves, drawn by the scent of fresh offerings. After a short, brutal skirmish among toppled headstones and overturned flower pots the undead were returned to silence. From the fallen creatures and the disturbed plots you recover a mix of practical valuables and things pulled from recent burials: coins and a reliquary that likely belonged to a grieving relative, a small garnet pried from a voided ring, practical leather straps and buckles scavenged from funerary gear, and a silvered dagger used by a terrified grave-keeper. A potion of healing and a battered holy symbol help the party recover and press on. Lastly, tucked beneath a sodden shroud you find a curious burial cloth humming faintly with lingering death-touched cold. It offers a single short-rest boon at a cost the party will notice in roleplaying consequences.
