The Tale of This Treasure
The party picked their way across a small battlefield on the rim of a burned village: scorched earth, half-melted buckles, and five smoldering ember hounds. The beasts had been used as living incendiaries and perished grasping at the ruins. Among their carcasses, the party found both mundane spoils — coins, a singed banner, a broken collar — and items unique to creatures of living flame: ember-cores, emberglass fragments, and teeth and pelts still warm with latent heat. Some pieces look useful for craftsmen who make fire-forged weapons; others may fetch a decent price with collectors or spellwrights. One small charm still thrums faintly with an inner glow, as if bonded to the hounds' nature.
