The Tale of This Treasure
After forcing open the rusted iron gate to the lower barracks and cutting down a twenty-five-strong watch detail, the party cleared a cramped room of bunks, an armory alcove, and a locked payroll chest. The guards were a garrison detail — uniformed, poorly paid, and carrying serviceable gear more useful to a scrappy adventuring party than to a government treasury. Most of the gear is scuffed and stained from dungeon duty but wholly usable; among the detritus lie a captain's signet, a fragment of a hand-drawn map hinting at a deeper vault, a small payroll manifest and a few gems likely lifted from prisoners or contraband. Several pieces (studded vests, crossbows, a healing potion) will be particularly valuable to the party at level 3, while documents and the signet provide immediate roleplay and infiltration hooks.
