The Tale of This Treasure

The party cleared a small goblin bandit hideout dug into a rocky outcropping. Eight snappish goblins fought from tunnels and ledges while a single hobgoblin sergeant barked orders and wore a battered leather map pouch and a scrap of a red cloth banner. The cave smelled of smoke and mold; rough sleeping pallets, overturned crates and a half-broken iron chest behind a crude curtain told of stolen goods brought in from nearby roads and a nearby hamlet. Most valuables are small, easily portable plunder and a few items that reflect the hobgoblin's higher status — a battered but serviceable piece of armor, a potion taken from a raided caravan, and a map promising something more.
