Aftermath of the Broken Pike

The party picks through the churned mud and bodies scattered along the ridge where two militia companies clashed until dusk. Helmets lie crushed, a banner still catches the wind, and broken wheelspokes have been improvised into barricades. Most personal wealth is modest coins and a handful of gems taken from officers. You find practical items as well as a single minor magical weapon likely looted from an unlucky sergeant. The spoils will outfit the party for repairs, small purchases, and perhaps buy a drink or two in the next town. Among the mundane flotsam are a couple of items with story value: a tattered banner and a sergeant's baton that could link to surviving commanders or local quests.
