The Tale of This Treasure

The skirmish happened along a wind-scorched stretch of the trade road where four sandcutters-turned-thieves tried to pick the party off at dusk. They operated like practiced pickpockets more than hardened raiders: fast, silent, and carrying items meant to be fenced quickly. After the final scuffle the party finds a modest purse of coin, two healing vials shoved into a belt, a careful set of thieves' tools, and a pair of sand-blasted boots that deaden footsteps. Among the spoils are a couple of gemstones likely lifted from a caravan's reliquary, a stamped promissory note that may be turned for cash at a merchant house in the next town, and a curious Sand-Scarab amulet that hums with a petty enchantment favored by desert cutpurses. Taken together the haul rewards immediate needs, offers tradeable value, and gives one player a small magical edge ideal for stealthy approaches across dunes and bazaars.
