The Tale of This Treasure
Beneath a collapsed colonnade and overgrown mosaics, the party cleared a small vault that had been sealed for centuries. Dust, powdered pigments, and the faint tang of metal came away on their tools. The chamber belonged to a long-extinct scholarly order: broken lecterns, shelves of brittle vellum, and a pedestal with an embedded metal shard bearing impact scars from some ancient fall. Hidden compartments and a rustless bronze chest yielded a mixture of monetary, practical, and culturally significant items — objects that will fund the party for months, provide materials for a smith or alchemist, and offer one discrete relic of lingering magic. None of this feels like plunder from beasts; it is the careful accumulation of archivists, ceremonial keepers, and their patrons.
