Compulsion Aura. The demon radiates a subtle compulsion that rewards repetition. Any creature that starts its turn within 30 feet of the demon must make a Will save or gain an Obsession Token. Tokens stack and have effects described in Statblock Notes.
Unwavering Focus. The demon cannot be surprised. It automatically detects attempts to hide anchor objects and knows the location of objects that once touched the blood or guilt of a person within its lair.
Seed of Ritual. The demon can touch a willing or helpless creature to plant a lasting obsession. The obsession ties to a mundane compulsion such as handwashing, checking locks, or repeating a phrase. Removing the obsession requires sanctified cleansing or a Remove Curse at 3rd level or higher.
Anchored Vitality. When the demon would be reduced to 0 hit points it instead is banished to a shadow-stitched shrine unless a consecrated anchor object in the region is destroyed within one round. If the anchor is destroyed concurrently, the demon dies.
Rending Touch. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 5 ft, one target. Hit: 12 () slashing damage plus 9 () psychic damage as the demon rends the target's certainty and plants obsessive dread.
Gaze of Fixation. Ranged Horror: The demon fixes a victim with a trembling stare. Range 60 ft. Target must succeed on a Will save or become frightened and gain one Obsession Token (see Traits). A frightened target with an Obsession Token takes psychic damage at the start of its turn as intrusive compulsion flares. Will save .
Gather Filth. The demon lifts its hands and any mundane object within 30 feet that is dirty, stained, or blemished skitters toward it and clings as if magnetized. Objects attach to the demon and grant it one temporary hit die per object until removed. The demon can use these objects to make improvised attacks (as Rending Touch) or to create a tactile distraction that imposes a -2 penalty to saves against its fear and compulsion effects for 1 minute.
Defensive Ritual. Defensive Ritual. When targeted by a divine or holy effect, the demon immediately forces the nearest creature to make a Will save or become compelled to perform a sacrificial cleansing instead, possibly interrupting the spell or effect.
Whisper of Return. Whisper of Return. The demon can force an Obsession Token from a nearby creature to pulse, causing that creature to waste its next move action on a compelled micro-ritual unless it succeeds on a Will save. .
Seize a Hand (Costs 2 Actions). Seize a Hand. The demon causes spectral hands to sprout from nearby surfaces to grip a target. Target must make a Strength save or be restrained until the end of its next turn. .
Obsessive Echo (Costs 2 Actions). Obsessive Echo. The demon forces an echo of a recent action in a target's mind, forcing them to repeat it on their next turn unless they pass a Will save. Small repetitive actions like touching a wound, washing hands, or cleaning a weapon are preferred by the demon.
1st level
Basin of StainsConjuration— Creates a spectral basin of water that appears filthy; creatures who drink it become afflicted with an Obsession Token if they fail a Will save. The basin can be consecrated to remove tokens. Usable at will.
3rd level
Memory SqueezeNecromancy— Instantaneous surge that forces one target to relive a guilt-laden memory. The target must make a Will save or be stunned for 1 round and take 3d6 psychic damage. Will save DC 16. Usable 3/day.
4th level
Circle of RepetitionEnchantment— An area of compulsive repetition. A 20-foot radius becomes a ground of obsession; creatures inside must make a Will save or spend their action repeating the last minor action they took for 1d4 rounds. Will save DC 16. Usable 2/day.
