Appearance
Martha is a study in textures. Her skin is a deep, sun-baked tan, appearing like cracked leather or the bark of an ancient oak tree. Despite her age, her eyes remain a startling, milky violet that seems to track things others cannot see. She sits perpetually upon a massive, sun-dried pea pod that serves as a curved porch for her hut, her small frame looking almost doll-like against the giant green-brown husk. Her hands are her most striking feature; they are gnarled by arthritis yet move with a terrifying, predatory speed when she works the loom. A single strand of bright crimson silk is always tied around her left pinky, vibrating slightly even when there is no wind.
“Gravelly and rhythmic, punctuated by the clacking of her wooden knitting needles..”

Distinguishing Features
Deeply creased skin resembling a topographical map
A single silver tooth that glints when she scolds the village children
Thick, calloused pads on her fingertips from decades of handling raw hemp
Voice
“A dry rasp, like two pieces of sandpaper rubbing together, but with a surprising melodic lilt.”
Clothing
She wears a chaotic ensemble of layered tunics made from every scrap of fabric she has ever woven. The colors are faded but the patterns are intricate, depicting scenes of migration and harvest. A heavy, hand-knitted shawl of coarse sheep's wool rests on her shoulders regardless of the heat.
Body Language
Martha stays mostly still, her movements confined to her hands and head. She leans forward aggressively when she's interested and pulls her shawl tight when she's lying.
