Level 5·Male·Medium

Species

Appearance

Weathered but orderly. A tall man whose skin bears the faint, pale scars of old lancing and fever marks. He keeps his hair cropped close at the temples yet long enough on top to be swept back; the crown shows a small crescent-shaped bald patch filled with a lattice tattoo of holy ink. He moves with the calm, economical gait of someone who travels carrying stretchers and children alike. Unexpectedly, his left hand is ringless and always warm with a faint scent of lavender and iron, as though he has been holding a slab of cold metal and a sprig of herb at the same time. In sunlight his eyes crinkle like prayer beads; in stormlight they fix like a shuttered window.

Distinguishing Features

Lattice holy tattoo on the scalp shaped like a crescent

Missing half of the left ear, the edge puckered and paler

Small silver bells woven into the scarf that jingle when he moves quickly

Voice

Warm, measured tenor with a slight rasp from old fever; becomes clipped under stress.

Clothing

Sturdy linen under a patched but well-kept chain shirt. A faded tabard bears the half-sun sigil of the Lantern Ward. Leather pouches and a sling satchel full of tinctures hang from a harness. He wears a pale wool cloak with a travel-stained hem and a scarf woven with small silver bells used to soothe startled patients.

Body Language

Open shoulders and frequent, small bows with the head. When thinking he rubs the web between thumb and forefinger of his left hand. With strangers he keeps a comfortable distance; with those injured he leans forward as if to listen to a wound.
