Appearance
Hammond moves like a man who has practiced the same small theatrical gestures for decades: a finger slightly raised to emphasize a point, a wrist flick to pour a sample. He favors close-cut, immaculate clothing that clings to his posture as if stitched to his spine. His skin bears the faint mottling of someone who works outdoors in seasonal bursts and then salts his face with perfumed powders; his hands are stained at the creases with tannin and soil. He wears a slim black cane with a silver vine motif—at first glance a fashion accessory, at second glance an obvious concealment. Contradictory to his prim bearing, his left boot is perpetually scuffed at the toe and bears a dried smear of red wine that he never bothers to fully clean.
“Measured, lyrical, with a tendency to pepper descriptions with vintage metaphors and sensory adjectives; his sentences often end with small, theatrical flourishes and he uses humor as a cutting tool..”

Distinguishing Features
Slim cane with silver vine motif (conceals a short blade)
Tannin-stained creases on palms and fingertips
A faint white scar across the left eyebrow from a vine pruner's hook
Perpetual small smear of dried red wine on left boot toe
Voice
“Soft baritone with crisp consonants; speaks slowly and deliberately, nearly theatrical; a habit of ticking a soft melodic hum beneath sentences when pleased.”
Clothing
tailored doublet of deep burgundy velvet, high-collared linen shirt with a faint herbal scent, fitted trousers, polished calf-leather boots (one scuffed), silk cravat pinned with a tiny carved grape cluster of onyx; always a thin apron folded across his arm when among casks
Body Language
Always slightly forward-leaning when conversing, as if offering wine; tends to cradle objects (a glass, a ledger) like a treasured thing; when lying, his left hand unconsciously brushes the silver grape on his cuff.
