Silas Deep-Sea Vane
Species
Human
Appearance
Silas is a mountain of a man who looks as though he was carved from a salt-bleached pier. His skin is the color of oiled mahogany, toughened and cracked like cured leather from decades of exposure to forge fires and sea spray. He stands with a permanent 'sea-leg' stance, feet wide apart as if the floor of his shop might suddenly pitch. While his torso and arms are thick with the muscle of a heavy-duty smith, he possesses an unexpected grace in his fingers, which are covered in delicate, bioluminescent blue tattoos of jellyfish that glow faintly when he is angry. He wears a heavy leather apron stained with both soot and dried brine, and he oddly keeps a single, polished amber monocle tucked into his vest for fine detail work.
“Silas speaks in a gravelly baritone that sounds like grinding stones. He uses maritime metaphors for everything: a dishonest man is 'leaking timber' and a difficult problem is 'a tangled line'.”
