Serena Moth
Captain of the Wardens
Serena Moth
Species
Halfling
Appearance
A compact halfling who moves like a coiled spring: quick, precise, and economical. Serena's patched green cloak is more map than fabric — dozens of sewn-on scraps hiding notes, field repairs, and tiny pockets for seeds and splinters. Her bow is carved from moonwood, pale with a faint pearlescent grain; small silver runes near the grip have been worn soft by constant use. She favors a single braid threaded with bits of brass and flint that clinks like distant thunder when she walks. Unexpectedly, her left shoulder bears the pale, puckered pattern of a quilt stitched into her skin — an old folk-practice tattooesque scarification for luck — which clashes with the military neatness of her uniform. Up close, bright laugh lines slice her face; at a distance, her stance reads as strict, inflexible, and safety-first.
“Direct, economical sentences; military metaphors; softens into a warm rasp when alone with children or the very old. Uses 'we' instead of 'I' in public speech.”

Distinguishing Features
Moonwood longbow with worn runes
Quilt-patterned scar across left shoulder
Small braid threaded with brass and flint
Patchwork cloak embroidered with unit marks
Voice
“A warm rasped alto with the snap of someone accustomed to giving orders; tends to soften into lilting cadence with children and the bereaved.”
Clothing
A patched dark-green cloak, a leather jerkin reinforced with metal studs at shoulders, kneeled breeches, soft boots (mud-bruised), and fingerless gloves with the fingertips worn through; a thin brass medallion stamped with the Thornhollow warden sigil hangs at her throat.
Body Language
Short, economical gestures. She points with her chin. When listening she leans forward, hands clasped behind her back; when upset she paces small circles, leaving a pattern of scuffed earth.
