Perrin Undercoil

Level 1·Male·Small
Neutral Good

Species

Lightfoot Halfling

Appearance

Perrin moves like a spring compressing and releasing: quick, economical, and faintly musical. He wears a stained leather apron peppered with tiny pockets and brass rings; copper filings cling to the cuffs of his sleeves. His hands are ink-stained and callused at the fingertips from wirework. He habitually leans into conversations as if listening for a loose gear. Unexpectedly, he keeps one shoulder dotted with soot and the other dusted with flour — evidence of nights spent both at a forge and at a baker’s oven. When still he hums an off-tempo lullaby; when excited his feet shuffle high and fast like a fiddler's. He smells faintly of pine resin and lemon oil.

Height3'0"
BuildCompact and wiry; deceptively strong in the hands and forearms
EyesHazel flecked with gold
HairDark brown, prematurely streaked with a single silver lock over his left temple
SkinWarm tan with a scatter of faint burn marks along the forearms

Fast-tongued, peppered with mechanical metaphors ("that idea's a loose sprocket"), uses polite halfling colloquialisms, often punctures sentences with a soft, amused chuckle..”

Distinguishing Features

Tiny brass spectacles perched on the tip of his nose

A faded tattoo of a cog entwined with a sprig of wheat behind his right ear

A nicked left forefinger that he taps thrice when thinking

Voice

Light, quick, with a rasp on excited syllables; laughs easily but the laugh is short and often self-dimming.

Clothing

A patched linen shirt under a sleeved leather apron, high-booted gaiters with hidden pockets, a thin copper circlet he uses as a measuring ring; always has a folded scarf tucked into his belt that doubles as a polishing cloth.

Body Language

Constantly manipulates some small object (twisting a ring, rolling a rivet between fingers), leans forward when listening, tenses shoulders subtly before saying something he fears will offend.
