Coren Thalassar
Rogue (Swashbuckler)
Coren Thalassar
Species
Human (Baylander)
Appearance
Sun-browned and salt-creased, Coren moves like a man who learned to step between rolling planks before he learned to walk a straight line. His skin is rough as rope, freckled with pale scars; his hair is cropped close at the sides and long in a topknot that smells faintly of tar and tobacco. He favors tightly fitted coats — dark blue with brass buttons — that cling to him like a second skin and make his lean silhouette look sharper. Unexpectedly, his left hand is always immaculate: short, unstained nails and a faint sheen as if he’d just oiled a delicate clockwork; a contradiction to the rest of him that speaks of secrets he guards carefully.
“Fast-talking, rife with sea idioms; he punctuates sentences with quick, infectious laughter. When fishing for favors he slows his cadence and softens consonants, making hard bargains sound like friendly trades.”

Distinguishing Features
A crescent scar running from ear to jaw — from a boarding knife
A tiny carved whale-tooth pendant tucked under his shirt
A faded tattooed chart on his forearm that only reveals meaning when wet
Left ear braided with a small silver ring
Voice
“Hoarse tenor, quick in cadence, softens into conspiratorial low notes when bargaining.”
Clothing
Well-cut blue coat (worn at the edges), faded linen shirts, fitted leather breeches, high soft boots, a braided leather baldric for his rapier, and a narrow silver ring braided into the hair of his left ear.
Body Language
Leans in close when he speaks, as if sharing contraband; fingers constantly find pockets or the bead at his ear; when threatened he squares briefly like a dancer preparing to spring.
