Merron "Tacks" Halver
Species

Appearance
Merron moves like someone who has spent decades on creaking decks: compact, economical steps, shoulders slightly forward as if bracing for wind. His face is weathered, with a patchwork of old sun lines and a faint crescent scar along the left cheek where a shingle kicked back in a storm. He keeps his hair tied back in a short, rough tail with a scrap of blue ribbon woven through as a memento. His hands are perpetually smudged with ink and tar, nails nicked from rope work. Unexpectedly, he always wears a tiny, polished silver thimble on his left index finger; it glints against the roughness and suggests a carefulness at odds with his salty exterior.
“Cadence of someone who learned songs on long voyages; speaks in plain measurements and nautical metaphors, often ending sentences with a soft, amused 'aye'..”

“Raspy from years of wind and shouting across decks, but unexpectedly soft when comforting children or clients in need”

Layered linen shirts patched at the sleeves, a heavy oilskin apron with pockets, a faded navy waistcoat with brass buttons, and a pair of stout boots frayed at the toes. He keeps a string of odd sewing needles and a thimble on a cord around his neck.

When listening, Merron leans in with an elbow on the counter and a grin that folds his face into small, gullible wrinkles. When wary he shrugs his shoulders inward, making himself compact and unreadable.
