Thariel Vossan
Warlock (The Archivist patron, reflavored Great Old One)
Thariel Vossan
Species
Human (Riverfolk of Kelsmarch)
Appearance
Thariel moves like someone used to squeezing between stacks of books and beneath low rafters: his shoulders are slightly rounded, his steps precise and economical. He wears a long, oil-dark coat patched with different weaves of damask and sailcloth; the inside pockets are lined with waxed linen and faint chalk rubbings of diagrams. A thin scar traces from his left temple to the base of his ear — it's pale and puckered, the souvenir of a library shelf collapse. He keeps a narrow brass monocle that flips up on a hinge; when down it magnifies his left eye in a disturbingly antiseptic way. Unexpectedly, he smells faintly of river mud and cinnamon, as if he alternates between bookstacks and a kitchen he refuses to let anyone see. His fingers are ink-stained, and when he walks he taps his knuckles rhythmically against his thigh — a counting rhythm he claims is 'for punctuation.'
“Measured, with tidy phrasing and occasional bibliophilic metaphors (calls rumors 'loose leaves' and secrets 'stiff bindings'). He uses scholarly synonyms when annoyed and softens his tone with humor for clients or apprentices.”

Distinguishing Features
Brass hinged monocle for the left eye
Scar from temple to ear
Ink-stained fingertips
Quieter-than-expected voice with a mechanical counting tap
Voice
“Quiet, slightly husky, warm but precise; his cadence is organized, almost academic — words clicking like a well-maintained ink pen.”
Clothing
Layered shirts of thrifted linen, a fitted waistcoat with hidden pockets, calf-high leather boots softened by age, and the long patched coat. He wears a brass chain with three small, flat talismans — a torn map fragment, a sliver of a glazed tile, and a sold copper coin — pinned inside the coat where only he and close others know it sits.
Body Language
Tends to fold himself inward, steepling ink-stained fingers; when thinking he paces in short measured steps and taps his thigh. He leans forward when someone speaks of books or forbidden knowledge, as if to listen for the words themselves.
