Appearance
A portly, waddling figure wrapped in layered waistcoats and heavy brocade coats that smell faintly of pipe tobacco and sea brine. Garrin favors brass — he wears a band of nested rings along the knuckles of his left hand that jingle like small bells when he writes. His leather folio is never far from his hip, fat with receipts and clipped seals. He moves with the slow, deliberate gait of a man who has negotiated his way out of worse squeezes than a cobbled alley; yet when excited his hands skitter like fish, counting and rearranging invisible ledgers. Unexpectedly, he keeps one shoulder perpetually squared as if bearing an invisible crate, a carryover from years of supervising docks. He also has a habit of brushing his chin as though checking for stubble, though he is always clean-shaven.
“Measured, often peppered with market metaphors and rhetorical questions meant to prod; he speaks with the coastal lilt of Thornhollow, dropping the second syllables of some words (mar-ket becomes mar'ket). He smiles easily but his eyes always appraise value.”

Distinguishing Features
Stacked brass rings on the left fingers that chime when he writes
A faded dockworker's tattoo (a stylized anchor) at the base of his neck, usually hidden
A faint burn scar along his right forearm, pale against freckled skin
A habit of tilting his head to the left when listening
Voice
“Low, warm, practiced to command respect; a coastal burr softens hard consonants and he occasionally laughs mid-sentence to disarm.”
Clothing
Layered waistcoats: a green oilcloth vest beneath a navy brocade coat lined with red satin; breeches of thick wool, polished calf boots with brass buckles, and a battered tricorne turned harmlessly fashionable. A narrow money-belt peeks beneath his coat, and his cuffs are embroidered with tiny merchant marks.
Body Language
Leans forward when interested, hands unconsciously signaling with brass rings; when indifferent he reclines and folds hands over his disproportionate belly, closing off conversation.
