Vaelis Nimroot
Species
Fairy
Appearance
Vaelis is the image of a leaf that learned to walk: his movements are quick, light, and always slightly off-tempo, like a page turned by a breeze. He stands only a handspan taller than a grown halfling's fist (tiny even for fairy folk), with translucent wings that shimmer between opal and beetle-green; when he moves they leave the faintest silver dust in the air. His clothing looks hand-stitched from moss and silk, frayed at the edges but meticulously mended in ways nobody else would notice. The most unexpected thing is the small strip of human leather tied around his left wrist—worn, too-soft from age, and incongruously practical next to the rest of his florid attire. He favors one shoulder higher than the other when he walks, as if warding off an invisible rain.
“Light, staccato sentences flecked with old idioms of the hollows; he sprinkles names like confetti and sometimes speaks in people’s nicknames when trying to disarm them. Uses poetic metaphors when nervous.”

Distinguishing Features
One wing tip bears a nicked silver rune—an old trespasser's mark
A faint, luminous birthmark shaped like a curled fern behind his right ear
Wears an odd human leather strip around his left wrist
Voice
“High and quick, like a bell struck with a twig; it softens to a whisper at secrets and hardens to brittle steel when angered.”
Clothing
A patched jerkin of spun nettle and moon-silk, a belt of braided thistle cord holding tiny pouches, and a hood that he flips up when he wants to be taken more seriously. Small, silent boots of dried leaf. A human leather strip tied at the wrist like a band.
Body Language
Always on the verge of movement: feet angled out, head cocked, fingers constantly arranging and rearranging whatever is in his pockets. When lying he blinks the left eye twice as if checking a mirror.
