Basaltes carries himself with a rigid military bearing that contrasts sharply with his wild, unkempt appearance. He has a dense, muscular frame that suggests a lifetime of hauling stone and swinging hammers. His skin is the texture of coarse sandstone, etched with white scars from underground skirmishes. His charcoal gray beard is knotted with stolen gold military rings and bits of scavenged wire, shaped into a makeshift pointed chin. He walks with a heavy, rhythmic thud and leaves a scent of ozone and wet earth in his wake. His amber eyes burn with a frighteningly focused intensity, though he frequently forgets that he is currently standing in a muddy ditch rather than a palace.
