Sapphira Vaan
Aviary Steward
Sapphira Vaan
Species
Blue Dragonborn
Appearance
A plated dragonborn whose cerulean scales are dulled by a permanent dusting of soot along the jaw, shoulder plates, and the undersides of her forearms. Her scales are offset by a braided strip of storm-blue down tied behind her crest. Hands are always clotted with fine grey down and smudges of ember, as if she has only moments ago been turning a nest or coaxing a meal from coals. Her movements are deliberate and economical — she moves like someone used to balancing on narrow perches: toes and talons splayed, center of gravity low, head tilted constantly as if listening for the hiss of fledglings. Unexpectedly, she wears a small silver monocle over her left eye — not for vision but to magnify small stitches and study tiny feather patterns — an elegant and somewhat anachronistic touch against the ruggedness of a keeper who smells of smoke.
“Speaks in clipped, practical sentences with an undercurrent of warmth when discussing animals; uses old draconic lullaby lines when soothed or emotional. Frequently peppers speech with aviary terms and shorthand ("down-count", "shelf-nest", "smoke-ward").”

Distinguishing Features
Soot-streaked scales and ember-stained talons
Silver monocle over left eye used for close inspection
A thin, jagged scar across the right forearm where a roc talon once caught her
A braided strip of storm-blue down tied behind her crest
Voice
“Low, gravelly, warm when speaking of birds; can harden to a metallic rasp when angry or betrayed. She pronounces draconic words with a soft vibrato.”
Clothing
A patched leather harness with loops for tools and clipped tags, a soot-darkened apron lined with pockets for hooks and vials, calf-high boots with metal toe-plates worn into a moonheel; on calmer days a deep teal shawl embroidered with the crest of Khar-Atir drapes her shoulders.
Body Language
Keeps her chest angled slightly forward, talons often spread as if balancing; frequently tilts her head when listening and instinctively reaches out to smooth ruffled feathers even when talking.
