In base form he is unnervingly smooth skinned with a nearly featureless face like polished obsidian. His head lacks hair and defined brows; cheekbones hint beneath the surface, and his mouth appears as a faint seam when he speaks. His eyes are large, completely black and glossy like river stones, reflecting light without visible pupils. Limbs are long and jointed in a way that makes his movements both fluid and slightly too elegant, fingers tapering to long, dexterous tips that leave faint smudges on glass and mirrors. He walks with a slow, deliberate pace that suggests control, but when he moves in a crowd he melts into others with the same ease as smoke. Unexpectedly he often wears a tiny, battered child's wrist-bell on a leather thong beneath his sleeve, which jingles once at random when he laughs. The bell is incongruous with his otherwise precise and artful presence.
