Nibk Riddlebranch
Wizard (Researcher)
Nibk Riddlebranch
Species
Goblin
Appearance
Nibk is a small, nervous figure whose movements have the quick, darting quality of a mouse thinking too fast. He wears a faded scholar's tunic patched at the elbows with strips of vellum; over it, a loosely wrapped shawl of dried mushroom-fiber embroidered with tiny glyphs he forbids others to touch. His teeth are filed into tiny notches as if to aid mnemonic chanting. He favors a shoulder-slung satchel bristling with rolled maps, bone-tipped quills, and a battered brass spyglass that he peers through as if the world itself were a footnote. Unexpectedly, Nibk keeps one polished brass monocle with an ornate chain — a grandly ostentatious accessory that contradicts his habit of hoarding scraps and living frugally. When he walks he often pauses mid-stride to tap a rune on his shawl, listening to a sound only he seems to hear.
“Rapid, staccato sentences full of footnotes and parenthetical asides. He punctuates statements with small hazards of whispering to himself, and occasionally lapses into quoting an obscure proverb in the old goblin dialect.”
