Valkyrian Thorn-ward
Warlock
Valkyrian Thorn-ward
Species
Hexblood
Appearance
Valkyrian moves like a winter breeze through ruins: quick, patient, and always listening. He wears a living crown of knotweed and black thorns that seems to breathe at his temples — the crown threads of an old hag-rite that will not be removed. His skin is an unsettling, bruise-lilac that catches light like dull metal; close up, faint veins shimmer with greenish-blue motes. His ears are forked almost to the tips, like a stag's split antlers in miniature. His hair is a thick mane of ash-black that refuses to stay cut; the ends sprout new strands within days, curling into small braids of their own accord. When he walks he tilts his head as if listening to a tune only he can hear, and his smile is deliberately small, practiced to hide teeth that are slightly serrated. Unexpectedly, his left hand is always warm and fragrant with the scent of rosewater, a contradition to his hag-touched appearance that makes children either want to approach or flee in fright.
“Measured, dry, and slightly theatrical; uses old-fey turns of phrase and sometimes lets a syllable roll oddly (a remnant of the hag's dialect). He often punctuates statements with small, wry aphorisms.”

Distinguishing Features
Living crown of knotweed and black thorns grown into his skull
Forked ears and faint serration of teeth
Hair that regrows almost instantly when cut
A thin silver ring scar around his left wrist from a binding ritual
Voice
“Low, velvety, and slightly nasal on certain vowels; carries an odd echo on some words as if two voices overlap for a heartbeat.”
Clothing
Wears a patched leather coat dyed in deep forest greens and purples, studded with small silver talismans and charms; high boots, fingerless gloves woven with tiny silver threads, and a scarf of faded court silk wrapped around his neck (it smells faintly of smoke). A bandolier holds vials of chalk, iron filings, and a jar of pinch-sealed nightshade petals for baiting contracts.
Body Language
Minimal, economical gestures; tilts his head frequently; when comfortable he will expose his throat slightly (a sign of trust that unsettles most people).
