Jane Quaint
Rogue (legendary)
Jane Quaint
Species
Human (Hystone-born)
Appearance
Jane moves like a story someone whispered into a crowded room — deliberate, polished, and oddly familiar. She is usually seen behind the bar of The Iron Lantern, wiping a glass with a linen that has never quite lost a faint, persistent scent of pipe smoke and orange zest. Her face is a map of small scars and laugh lines; the left cheek bears a crescent scar that tightens when she smiles. Her fingers are always slightly stained with ink and ale in equal measure. She wears a neat, dark braid pinned across the back of her head that reveals one ear threaded with mismatched, tiny silver hoops. Contradiction clings to her: she has the precise hands of a craftsman and the relaxed posture of a person who never expects to be hurried; friendly eyes that watch like a hawk. In a crowd she blends — and when she chooses not to, she is impossible to ignore.
“Dry, economical, often punctuated with a wry laugh. She speaks with a Hystone cadence — clipped consonants, vowel-bending in familiar idioms — and slips into old thief slang when comfortable.”

Distinguishing Features
Crescent scar on left cheek that tightens when she smiles
Left eye flecked with amber
Right hand wearing a patchwork glove with many stitches
A thin, faded tattoo of a lantern on the inside of her wrist
Voice
“Warm alto, slightly husky from years of shouting over crowds and smoking. Laughs like a bell gone slightly out of tune.”
Clothing
Worn but well-kept black linen shirt, deep-green leather vest embossed with a subtle pattern of lanterns and foxes, high riding boots scuffed at the toes, and an apron with hidden pockets. On certain nights she drapes a charcoal travel cloak with the city broker's sigil embroidered at the hem. Often a single glove covers her right hand while the left is bare; the glove's fingers are repaired patchily with many colored threads.
Body Language
Often leans forward, elbows on the bar, fingers drumming a slow, steady rhythm. She tilts her head when listening and uses small, precise hand gestures when making a point. When threatened she narrows her shoulders and becomes extremely still.
