Moggor Driftback
Barbarian
Moggor Driftback
Species
Tortle
Appearance
A hulking snapping-turtle tortle with a shell mottled in river-stone grey and mossy green. The shell's ridges are rimed with lichen and faint old carvings worn smooth by time. His head is broad and blunt with a scar that slices a pale crescent through the raw pink of the lower beak. Tiny barnacle-like growths cluster near his neck, leftover from a youth spent at the edge of salt and fresh water. When he moves he does so with the slow deliberation of a brook but with sudden, startling bursts of speed when he snaps his jaws. Contradiction: despite a face carved by age he often tilts his head and grins like a curious child when presented with something shiny or absurd.
“Deliberate and low, with occasional guttural clicks and soft chuckles. Uses river-similes and will repeat a key word for emphasis.”

Distinguishing Features
Shell with worn, humanlike carved runes and patches of lichen
Scar across the lower beak that reveals a missing tooth
Small glass bead tied into his sash that glows faintly when he nears true water
Voice
“A gravelly baritone that sounds like water moving through pebbles; becomes higher and almost playful when telling a fond memory.”
Clothing
A patchwork of wet-leather straps and river-silk wraps; a faded sash tied to hold a small pouch of keepsakes, and a dented bronze buckle that used to be a boat cleat. He refuses actual armor and accepts a battered half-shield strapped to one forearm.
Body Language
Slow and deliberate gestures punctuated by sudden snapping bites; when anxious he pulls closer to walls or low water and drops his chin to his shell as if listening for currents.
