Sszalrae Mirthal
Monk
Sszalrae Mirthal
Species
Dark Elf (Drow)
Appearance
Sszalrae moves like a shadowed pendulum: precise, economical, and always balanced. Her skin is the deep violet-black of cave-stained obsidian, matte rather than gleaming, as if she rarely lets light linger on her. She wears a patchwork of soot-dark working clothes beneath a tailored monk's tunic — the sleeves cropped for labor, the hem reinforced with leather behind the knees from kneeling at axles. Her fingers are callused and ink-stained, with faint silver burn-scars along the pads from forge sparks; her nails are trimmed into neat crescents. A thin, silver wire—part tool, part keepsake—hooks behind one ear and trails down to a small wheeltaster charm at her hip: an unexpected, jingling toy against the hush of her steps. When she walks in daylight, she tilts her head as if gauging the sun's angle; when she walks at night, she becomes all quiet arcs and measured reaches. The contradictory element: her hands are perpetually stained with sap and tar and yet her movements and posture radiate an almost monastic cleanliness and ascetic control.
“Sparse, measured sentences; favors clipped Drow diction softened by the rough vowels of surface trade slang. Uses technical metaphors — 'this axle is dishonest' — as insults and compliments alike.”

Distinguishing Features
Silver wire wheeltaster charm that jingles softly
Two faint parallel silver scars on the inside of her left wrist (old ritual scars)
Single white hair streak above the right temple
A small, carved wooden cog tattoo behind her left ear (inked, not burned)
Voice
“Low, dry, and soft with a slight sibilant edge; measured cadence that can become clipped when angry”
Clothing
Dark, fitted monk's tunic reinforced at the shoulders and thighs with leather patched from old cart straps; a utility apron with pockets for calipers and awls; soft leather wraps on forearms stained by tars and dyes; thin silent boots with glue-black soles. She keeps a faded, crimson bandanna folded inside her belt — a keepsake from a mentor.
Body Language
Always balanced on the balls of her feet, palms often splayed as if feeling invisible seams in the air; when defensive she crosses her arms and tucks her chin, fingers trailing the wheeltaster charm
