Her left cheek is scarred by a crescent-shaped burn that has faded to pale silver, the skin smoother than expected, and a strip of faint callouses runs across her fingertips from years of handling reins and ropes. When she walks she unconsciously counts the cadence of her steps, tapping the toe of her boot once every third pace. Unexpectedly, she keeps a single bright blue ribbon tied to her braid near the nape of her neck, a flash of color that contradicts her otherwise practical, muted look.
