Karkash is a mountain of a man with skin the color of a bruised plum mixed with charcoal dust. His massive, barrel-chested frame is perpetually coated in a fine layer of soot and metallic shavings that catch the light like dull stars. He moves with a heavy, rhythmic gait that mimics the strike of a hammer on an anvil, vibrating the floorboards of his shop. His expression is usually one of focused intensity, but he wears a pair of delicate, gold-rimmed spectacles perched precariously on his broad, broken nose for fine engraving work, a startlingly fragile sight on such a rugged face.
