Appearance
Maerun moves like a wave against cliffstone: a lithe, buxom young woman in polished, tailored plate that hugs her waist and hips as if stitched by a loving smith. Her long brown hair is braided in three thick ropes that hang past her belt, each braid threaded with small iron rings and a faded blue ribbon she once stole from a lover. Her eyes are an arresting violet — not an unusually bright tint but a slow, sharp violet that studies people like a tide studies sand. Her armor is burnished to a soft pewter, scuffed at the knees and edges from use; the leather beneath smells faintly of sun-warmed seaweed and lavender soap. When she moves she balances the awkward heft of a Viking ax across one shoulder with surprising grace; when she laughs, the sound is big and unguarded, but she tucks the laugh behind a hand as if embarrassed by it. Unexpectedly, she always keeps one finger stained with indigo ink from secret writing and sometimes traces the mark while thinking, a delicate, scholarly contradiction to her warrior's bearing.
“Direct, peppered with northern idioms and sailors' curse-phrases when excited; she uses diminutives with friends and clipped, formal phrasing with nobles. She adds a softening '—if you please' when trying to be disarming.”

Distinguishing Features
Three heavy braids threaded with iron rings and a faded blue ribbon
Violet eyes that seem to assess posture and coin as equally revealing
A faint, crescent scar at the corner of her left eyebrow from a youthful duel
Indigo ink stain on the pad of her right index finger
Voice
“Warm, robust, with a slight coastal burr; laughs loud, softens to a near-whisper when divulging secrets.”
Clothing
Form-fitting plate with a furred collar for ceremony; under-armor is stitched wool dyed a deep sea-green from her house livery. She wears a simple linen shift under the armor and a leather belt with pouches. On formal occasions she straps a short blue cloak over her shoulders, embroidered with a single crossed hammer and wave.
Body Language
Confident shoulders, an almost casual grip on her axe when listening; she tends to lean forward while speaking as if sharing a secret, and straightens abruptly when duty calls.
