Polymorphed Human (Former River Captain)

Miren-Scale Doss

Level 5·Male·Large
Neutral Good

Species

Human (currently in crocodile beast form)

Appearance

A large river crocodile in all outward ways, but there are small, unmistakable signs he is not purely a beast. The scales along his left flank are faintly scarred in the shape of an old captain's sash. Where his neck meets the shoulders a bruise of old tattoos shows through between scutes, ghosting a knotwork pattern. When he moves, his head tilts with a deliberate curiosity more like a thoughtful human than a predator. Unexpectedly, he keeps one eye half-closed when he listens as if guarding a private thought. At rest he sometimes props his head on a stone as if it were a table, and he will place a small river-worn coin under one claw and stare at it for long minutes.

Height12 feet snout to tail tip
BuildMassive and lithe for a beast his size, muscle concentrated in shoulder and tail
EyesYellow with vertical pupil; left pupil occasionally flashes human-like amber when remembering
HairNone
SkinDeep river-mud green with lighter underside

In crocodile form his vocalizations are mostly growls and hums but he can form halting human words when making a great effort; when briefly shifted by magic back toward human speech he speaks in a gravelly, weathered tone thick with sailor phrasing.”

A low, rumbling croak that can swell into an oddly human-sounding hummed phrase; when forced into words they are jittered and halting but full of old captainly cadences

None in crocodile form, but he keeps a faded captain's sash tucked beneath overlapping scales on his left flank and sometimes drags a weathered leather pouch behind him that contains human tokens
