Appearance

Brenrick looks like someone who lived half his life inside a clocktower and the other half inside a storybook lab. He stands with a purposeful tilt as if always peering under something. His clothes are ringed with tiny oil stains and faint scorch marks, but meticulously brushed; copper filings cling to the cuffs like glitter. His left forearm has a leather bracer fitted with a little brass dial that ticks in primeval cadence. He walks with short, quick steps and often pauses to examine seams in the air—literal or metaphorical—before continuing. Contradiction: despite the careful precision of his dress and hands, his hair is an unruly mop of ash-gray curls braided with mismatched trinkets and a child's ribbon. Up close, there is a faint smell of gunpowder, citrus polish, and old paper.

Height3'8" (with a posture that adds presence)
BuildCompact and wiry; hands are ink-stained but nimble
EyesOne bright hazel, the other a polished brass ocular implant that glints when he thinks
HairAsh-gray with copper streaks and bits of thread
SkinWarm cinnamon with a peppering of freckles

Rapid, punctuated with tinkerer's jargon. Uses analogies tied to gears and springs.”

Distinguishing Features

Brass ocular implant replacing his right eye (glints, focuses separately)

Left forearm bracer with working dial and retractable magnifier

Patchwork braid in hair containing a child's ribbon and a broken key

Faint burn scar across the left jawline

Voice

High but warm; quick cadence, with a metallic, almost musical cadence when the brass eye clicks. When angered, words become clipped like a precision tool.

Clothing

A knee-length slate-blue frockcoat lined with pockets; leather apron with stamped sigils of guild lodges; mismatched knee-high boots (one patched with clockwork plates); goggles perched perpetually atop his head; a faded scarf woven with a child's handwriting embroidered into the hem.

Body Language

Constant fidgeting with small gears or the bracer dial; leans forward when excited; folds into himself and fingers the braid when ashamed; makes expansive hand motions while teaching.
