Archwright Torbin Keld
Master Artificer
Archwright Torbin Keld
Species
Dwarf (Hill-blood Keldmar lineage)
Appearance
Short and broad-shouldered, Torbin moves like a rolling anvil: deliberate, inexorable, and somehow graceful when bent over a workbench. His beard is long but clipped into professional loops so it won't snag; soot streaks its gray-brown braids in irregular lines, and flecks of gold leaf cling like stubborn confetti. His hands are pitted with tiny burn scars and faint rune-tattoos at the knuckles. He favors a half-apron of patchworked leather hung with tiny zipped pockets and magnetic clips; a belt over it bristles with uncommon, almost whimsical tools — an iron quill, a spring-loaded caliper, a glass vial of humming motes, and a small clockwork bird that rests on his shoulder and ticks softly. Unexpectedly, Torbin's left eye is a glass optic with a faint, ever-shifting filigree of silver inside that tracks heat and vibration; when he smiles he exposes a gap-tooth grin that contradicts his otherwise severe presence.
“Gruff, measured, and deliberate; uses technical metaphors ('That idea's flange won't bear the torque of reality') and occasionally quotes old hammer-law proverbs. He uses colloquial Keldmar contractions and often underlines points with an amused exhale.”

Voice
“Low, gravelly, and steady; a hint of chip-smoke and coal in the timbre, with rising warmth when speaking of apprentices or beloved inventions.”
Clothing
Heavy wool shirt dyed in coal-blue, sleeves rolled to show studded leather vambraces; a calf-length leather apron patched with guild sigils; polished iron-toed boots with removable soles for working on heated grates. He wears a battered bronze circlet of office — engraved with the Arcane Foundry's mark — slung low on his brow.
Body Language
Leans on his hammer when thinking, tugs the corner of his apron when nervous, and fixes his glass eye on anyone who lies. He uses his hands constantly when explaining mechanisms, as if drawing gears in the air.
