Tarric Brennvel
Species
Human (Riverlands folk)
Appearance
Tarric moves like a man who has spent decades circling a barroom: economical, attentive and slow to surprise. He has a shock of tight black curls that never lie flat even under his battered cap, and a close-cropped black beard threaded with one streak of silver at the jaw — a line he insists is from a candle-wax burn but never says how he got. His face is warm and round, skin patterned faintly by old sun freckles and the tiny white scars of kitchen knives. He wears an apron always dusted in flour and beer foam; when he walks there is a faint clinking of coin and keys from his belt. Unexpectedly, he carries himself with the coiled posture of a man trained to listen for footsteps: shoulders slightly forward, head inclined, the habit of scanning a room's three exit points. That alertness minus urgency leaves an impression of someone bored with danger but never careless.
“Dry, wry, conversational. He understates to emphasize.”

Distinguishing Features
Tight black curls that never lie flat
Thin silver streak in the beard at the jaw
A faint white scar running along his left forefinger
Always smells faintly of hops and rosemary
Worn silver merchant's token pinned to his chest pocket
Voice
“Low, cultivated with river-basin vowels; pleasant and unhurried, quick to belittle with a half-smile when amused.”
Clothing
A threadbare wool shirt dyed a dull forest green, a leather apron of many patched pockets, faded trousers, soft-soled boots, and a battered cap. He favors comfortable garments with hidden inside pockets. He keeps a small silver token pinned by his heart pocket — a merchant's mark he never shows to strangers.
Body Language
Subtle: he leans in on secrets, crosses his arms when offended, and loosens his apron when preparing to deflect or change topic. He smooths his beard when weighing a lie.
