Elthar Vassor, called Nagybácsi
Ranger 3 / Fighter 2 (Sea-Warden)
Elthar Vassor, called Nagybácsi
Species
Human (Riverborn of the Tóra basin)
Appearance
Elthar moves like someone who has spent more years listening to currents than to clocks: slow, deliberate footfalls, the shoulders of a man who leans into wind. His face is a map of river-weathered lines — crows' feet that curl like fish-hooks and a deep furrow between the brows. He wears a trailing salt-stiffened beard braided into a single rough plait tied with a scrap of blue ribbon that once belonged to his late wife. His left forearm bears a faded tattoo of a leaping carp, the black ink cracked and puckered like dried riverbed. When he laughs, his whole face opens and his voice softens; when he narrows his eyes, the light in them goes cold and calculating. Unexpectedly, he keeps his nails trimmed and clean — an old habit from when he mended nets — which contrasts with the perpetually fish-scented clothes and calloused hands.
“Soft but direct, often punctuated with sea-talk and idioms — 'a smooth tide' to mean an easy day; 'dead water' to mean bad luck. He speaks slowly, as if weighing each syllable, and uses an occasional friendly 'child' or 'lass' for younger people.”

“Low, warm gravel with a lilt that hints at decades of shared songs; rarely raises volume except to be heard over a storm or to command the dock.”
Clothing
A thick wool fisher's coat dyed a faded indigo, well-oiled leather apron with multiple pockets, patched linen shirts beneath, heavy sea-boots softened by years of use. He wears a battered tricorn cap when tending the dock and a simple copper chain with a small carved wooden fish under his shirt.

Leans on the counter with forearms crossed when listening; straightens and plants both feet when assessing danger. Often rubs his thumb and forefinger together when thinking of accounts or favors.
