Gruk-thal Mudbelly
Barbarian
Gruk-thal Mudbelly
Species
Marsh-Orc (Half-Orc heritage, clan-touched)
Appearance
A hulking, broad-shouldered man who smells faintly of peat and citrus—an oddity he cultivates. His skin carries the dull sheen of river silt in places, as if he never quite washes some long-held ritual grime away. He wears a patchwork of rough leather and woven reed matting, but tucked under his belt is always a small, immaculate linen handkerchief folded into a triple star; he uses it to polish brass quickly, then stuffs it back into the same grime-streaked pocket. When he walks he lumbers like a boat pushed by a current, slow and inevitable, yet when angered he moves with the sudden, splintering force of a falling tree.
“Gruff but precise; uses maritime metaphors and often refers to latrines as 'the people's bellies' and pits as 'sleeping wells.' Has a surprising fondness for proverbs and indexes them into his conversations.”

Distinguishing Features
A jagged scar across the left cheek, pale and puckered
Four small ritual tattoos in a line behind the left ear (mud-runic marks)
A deliberately kept spotless linen handkerchief folded in his belt despite his work
Missing two front teeth, replaced by carved bone plugs
Voice
“Deep, slightly nasal, with a wet reverberation — as if his words have been shaped in reed chambers; when excited his speech quickens but never loses clarity.”
Clothing
Reed-matting tabard over a leather jerkin, waterproof leggings stitched with whale sinew, a smudged apron for work, heavy river-boots, and a small brass chain of office engraved with a sewage-runic sigil
Body Language
Moves with slow deliberation; when listening he leans forward almost imperceptibly as if catching a current; when angry he plants both feet and squints, as if testing the ground.
