Thalorin Meres
Rogue (Swashbuckler) 5
Thalorin Meres
Species
Half-Elf (Coastal Merchants' Kin)
Appearance
Thalorin moves like someone who learned to read both a ledger and a rooftile. He favors a constant half-smile that suggests amusement or calculation (sometimes both). His face is narrow and sun-softened with a long pale scar running from the left jawline to the earlobe — a souvenir from a cargo dispute gone sharp. He keeps a trimmed, uneven beard that he strokes when thinking. His left ear bears three small silver cuffs; his right ear has an ornate brass hoop wrapped with a single green feather. When he walks he rocks on the balls of his feet and often tilts his head as if listening to a far-away sea; yet when he stands still he very deliberately squares his shoulders as if willing himself invisible. Contradiction: despite a carefree smile and jaunty movements, his hands are always stained with coal dust or ink as if he alternates between clerkly work and messy labor without notice.
“Velvety, quick, and slightly amused. Uses nautical metaphors; often addresses strangers with familial terms like 'mate' or 'sister' to put them at ease.”

Distinguishing Features
Diagonal scar from left jaw to earlobe
Silver cuffs on left ear and brass hoop with green feather on right
Ink/coal stains habitually on fingers and forearms
Small sea-ink tattoo of a compass rose behind the left shoulder
Voice
“Smooth tenor with the cadence of a storyteller; quick when amused, low and flat when angry. Small, almost-smiling laugh that often precedes a sharp comment.”
Clothing
A faded navy frock coat reinforced at the elbows with leather patches; a high-collared linen shirt with embroidered sea motifs at the cuffs; well-worn studded leather jerkin underneath; tapered trousers tucked into supple riding boots; a faded sea-scarred scarf he uses as a curtain of distraction. He carries a small harmonica and a battered field diary on a chain at his waist.
Body Language
Constant micro-motions: drumming fingers, fiddling with ear cuffs, rolling shoulders as if remembering sails. Opens his palms when honest, closes them into a fist when plotting.
