Merva Cobblewick
Artificer
Merva Cobblewick
Species
Gnome
Appearance
Short and compact with the bright-eyed, crowded look of someone who carries a hundred small plans at once. Her skin is freckled from brass-oil burns and sun through glass, and both forearms are tattooed with tiny blueprint runes and measurement marks that fade into a swirling family motif at the elbow. Her hands are callused but nimble, nails trimmed and stained with flux. She moves with small efficient steps and a slight forward tilt, as if always leaning into the next curious thing. Unexpected element: tucked into the hem of her coat is a faded silk ribbon from a formal noble ball, oddly pristine against the otherwise greasy, patched fabrics.
“Rapid, lilted with trade jargon, tends to end sentences with a practical aside; uses small technical metaphors.”

Distinguishing Features
Tattooed blueprint runes on forearms
Brass-lensed goggles permanently smudged on the forehead
Silk ribbon sewn inside coat hem
Voice
“Quick, bright, and slightly rasping from years of talking over hammers; a laugh that softens tension”
Clothing
Layered workcoat patched with assorted fabrics, a belt full of pouches and tools, sturdy leather boots with metal toe caps, a pair of brass-lensed goggles usually perched on the forehead, and a faded silk ribbon sewn into the inner hem of the coat.
Body Language
Hands constantly moving, either examining an item or moving through a series of tiny gestures that mirror the motions she needs to make. She inclines her head forward while listening. When angry she closes the distance between herself and whoever displeases her by taking a step that cuts off their space, then returns to calm after a soft laugh.
