Thalira Vael'aran
Ranger
Thalira Vael'aran
Species
Elf
Appearance
Thalira moves like a blade honed for court as much as combat: precise footfalls, shoulders squared, every motion measured. Her face is long and aristocratic, high cheekbones softened by a perpetual half-smile that tends toward tired amusement. Her hair is braided into an elaborate coif at the nape—silver threads braided into the dark chestnut—yet the braid looks frequently loosened at the end and tied back with a rough leather thong. She wears a captain's surcoat over travel-worn leathers; the surcoat bears the Vael'aran rose, immaculate and slightly faded at the edges. In sunlight her skin carries the faint metallic sheen of someone who spends time outdoors; up close, small, careful scars pepper her fingers and forearms. Contradiction: despite the effortless nobility and immaculate surcoat, her boots are badly scuffed and one knee of her trousers is patched with a farmer's coarse cloth. She leaves the impression of someone who belongs in a hall and in a forest at once.
“Measured, formal when with nobility; plain, direct, and quietly warm with commonfolk. She prefers short sentences and precise vocabulary; when upset, she becomes almost poetically blunt.”

Distinguishing Features
Thin pale scar across the right brow — earned chasing a brigand through a thicket
A small green rune tattooed behind the left ear (family ward-style)
Callused thumbs and ink-stained fingertips from mapping and catalogue notes
A faded childhood ribbon tucked inside her breast — frayed and secret
Voice
“Clear alto with a faint lilt from the county's speech; steady and decisive, with warmth reserved for those she trusts.”
Clothing
A neat dark-green captain's surcoat edged with silver thread, leather brigands beneath, a weathered hooded cloak for patrols, soft gloves cut at the fingers, and well-worn hobnailed boots. A small silver signet ring and a brass captain's badge are always visible.
Body Language
Straight-backed, hands often behind her when listening; when uncertain she rubs the pad of her right thumb and forefinger together; tends to step forward to close distance when making a point.
