Appearance

Alistair moves like a ledger being closed: precise, crisp, and final. He favors high-collared waistcoats that sit like armor across his chest, a battered top hat pulled low, and a long frock coat whose inner lining is stitched with a faded map of a city district he once vowed to save. His revolver rests in a hip holster fitted with a tiny leather pouch of polishing cloths; he polishes the weapon with deliberate, almost ritual motions while saying nothing. His left hand bears faint burn-scars in a whorl pattern; his right fingers are ink-stained from records and letters. He walks with a slight limp from an old wound but uses it to anchor his stance rather than hide it. Unexpectedly, his boots are immaculate and silent, as if he refuses to announce his coming unless he chooses to.

Height5'11"
BuildLean, angular, deceptively wiry
EyesPale hazel with a thin ring of gold around the pupil
HairDark iron gray with a single white streak over his left temple
SkinPale, like someone who spends long nights in lamplight

Measured, precise diction with a faint provincial lilt. He uses analogies drawn from books and accounting ("If I tally this, the margin vanishes").”

Distinguishing Features

Faint spiral burn-scar on the left hand

White streak in hair above left temple

Tiny brass locket sewn into inner coat lining (worn always)

Finger-ink stains on the right hand

Voice

Low, even, and slightly rasping from pipe-smoke; a voice that could read wills or execute warrants without theatrics.

Clothing

Black frock coat with a burgundy silk lining, high-collared charcoal waistcoat, starched white shirt with a narrow black cravat, tailored trousers, polished boots with hidden metal shanks, fingerless leather gloves for ease with the revolver

Body Language

Minimizes unnecessary motion; he will often place both palms on the table when making a point and tilt his head as though weighing pages rather than people.
